Do not ask “what is the best method?” Ask what part of the story is fuzzy right now.
I only have a rough idea
Start with the concept, find the emotional engine, and avoid building a giant outline too early.
I know the character but not the plot
Build from wound, want, pressure, and change. That gives the plot something to push against.
I need the whole shape fast
Use the launcher and chapter tentpoles to get visible structure without writing every scene summary yet.
I am stuck in the middle
Back up. Re-check the synopsis, the midpoint pressure, and the next hard choice.
Fast rule of thumb
Idea is tiny
Start with logline or blank starter.
Character is strong
Use Character-Core.
Premise is strong
Use Snowflake or synopsis work.
Middle is collapsing
Go to chapter purpose and synopsis before adding more scenes.
