How to write a one-page synopsis

Think of the synopsis as the spine of the story. It should show movement, escalation, and the ending without drowning in scene-by-scene noise.

Opening situation

Start with the normal world, the core flaw, and the inciting disruption.

Escalation

Group the middle into rising trouble instead of listing every event.

Turning point

Call out the moment the story changes direction for real.

Ending

Do not dodge the ending. The resolution proves what the story actually is.

Put it to work

Read the principle, then use it inside an actual story instead of hoarding theory like a dragon with craft books.
