Guide
How to build a strong logline
A logline is not a vague vibe. It is the clean promise of who the story follows, what they want, what blocks them, and what is at stake.
Lead
Name the role or archetype, not the whole biography. Give the reader something concrete to picture.
Want
The external goal should be visible and testable. “Find her sister” beats “find herself.”
Obstacle
Make the force against them feel active. A real logline has pressure, not just ambience.
Stakes
Say what the lead loses if they fail. Stakes are the voltage.
Put it to work
Read the principle, then use it inside an actual story instead of hoarding theory like a dragon with craft books.
